Day 38, Song #38

"Yellow" by Coldplay

Found on the album "Parachutes" released in 2000

The song that made Coldplay - "Coldplay"! This song marked their first big break and I still think it's an amazing song to this date.

Day 37, Song #37

"I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab For Cutie

Found on the album "Plans" released in 2005

I love, love, LOVE this song! It's quiet, cute, short, sweet, and to the point. If you've never heard it, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Day 36, Song #36

"Champions of Nothing" by Matthew Good

From the album "Hospital Music" released in 2007

I really like and respect those artists who are able to create those longer songs that have so many different parts and seem to really tell a story. This is one of those songs. I remember that after the first time I popped this album into my car and listened to track 1, "Champions of Nothing" the only thought that came to my mind was ... wow...

Day 35, Song #35

"Kids" by MGMT

Found on the album "Oracular Spectacular" released in 2008

Another song that must be added to this list of mine that is pure summer! I've loved this song since it first hit radio-land last summer and believe it will be always a part of my summer soundtrack.

Day 34, Song #34

"Alright" by Pilate (now known as Pilot Speed for legal reasons in the US)

Originally found on the album "Caught By The Window" released in 2003

This is an incredible song by one of my favourite Toronto-based bands. Todd Clark's voice is so absolutely amazing and almost haunting in this song --- but in the best way. Yes, it is a sadder song, but it's still most definitely list-worthy. Give it a listen!

Day 33, Song #33

"Superman's Dead" by Our Lady Peace

Found on the album "Clumsy" released in 1997

I think it's safe to say that this is the song that really made OLP big and REALLY made my fall in love with the band. Yes, their debut "Naveed" was incredible, but when "Superman's Dead" was released, the band seemed to gain a whole new type of fan based that has remained with them to this day. An epic song for an epic band.. well, in my eyes.

Day 32, Song #32

"21 Guns" by Green Day

Found on their new album "21st Century Breakdown" that was released in May of this year

A fairly new single for Green Day that is still blasting through radio-land. This is the type of Green Day song that I just love and will love for many years to come.

Day 31, Song #31

"Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve

Found on the album "Urban Hymns" released in 1997

The mid to late '90s was a great time for music. At least for my generation. This song was a key component to that time and definitely belongs on this list.

Day 30, Song #30

"Big Me" by the Foo Fighters

Found on the band's self titled album that was released in 1995

Let's take another step way back into the '90s. Classic Foo Fighters material and a song that will absolutely never get old. Short, sweet, to the point, and I love it.

Day 29, Song #29

"Praise You" by Fatboy Slim

Found on the album "You've Come a Long Way, Baby" released in 1999

How can you forget the crazy, yet awesome video Fatboy Slim did for this album back in 1999? (If you've never seen it, please go to YouTube now! I'm sure it's on there somewhere. I promise you'll get a good laugh out of it.) The people in tights, the horribly awesome dancing? Oh those were the days.. each time the video would come on Much Music, my mom and I would take our positions in the middle of the living room floor and dance along with the people in the video. Every time I hear the song, I think of those hilarious moments my mom and I shared. And hey, video aside, 10 years later, it's still a pretty wicked tune.

Day 28, Song #28

"Rock Me Now" by Metric

Found on the album "Grow Up and Blow Away" released in 2001

I absolutely LOVE the vibe of this song. It's really not like most of the songs on this list so far as it just has such a chill-type of vibe to it and it's definitely not really like anything else you would have heard from Metric. Seriously - check it out!

Day 27, Song #27

"Young Leaves" by Attack In Black

Found on the album "Marriage" released in 2007

A fun and catchy tune by another great Canadian band. Yet another song that is pure summer. If you have never heard it before, give it a listen and enjoy!

Day 26, Song #26

"Float On" by Modest Mouse

Found on the album "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" released in 2004

This song is summer. Plain and simple. The tempo is awesome and it's just so smooth going. One of those songs that is just perfect to crank in your car when driving with the windows down.

Day 25, Song #25

"I Miss You" by Blink 182

Found on the band's self-titled album that was released in 2003

One of the more mellow songs from this band, and in my opinion it's definitely still worth listening to 6 years later. Thus, it definitely deserves a spot here. :)

Day 24, Song #24

"Drive" by Incubus

Found on the album "Make Yourself" which was released in 1999

A great song that must be added to this list of mine. I liked the song from the first time I heard it and still love it to this day. I remember absolutely loving the video for this song so much when it first came out that I had taped it on VHS so that I could watch it over and over!
